The 12:15 Reading Room is an art project located in a house built for monks in the Old Town of Vilnius and the first studio of Marija's grandfather and artist Petras Repšys. The space has always been a place for creation and meetings of artists. Half of the space is the studio of the "12:15" publishing platform, where we work with authors and creators on books. The other half is the 12:15 Reading Room bookshop.

We created this space in response to the lack - non existence of bookshops representing art, artists' books and alternative thinking in our region (from Finland to Poland). As a young publisher, we understand how important that your books - your ideas and work are presented and accessible. We want to provide a stage for "small creators" that take risks and realise their thoughts on paper by creating books. At the same time, we want to place them together on the same shelves with bigger publishers who are already part of the accepted art system. Here we represent bookmakers who are searching for their way to exist in a strongly controlled and shaped art world by "a few" individuals.

In the reading part of the space, you can find books from the "12:15" research trips to Estonia and Sweden, as well as rare publications, such as the first projects by artists, graphic designers and archives collected from books gifted by artists and graphic designers, including out-of-print books.

The "12:15 Reading Room" event programme is curated based on the books we have in the space. We invite the publishers, artists and graphic designers of the books we represent to participate in the programme. During the reading sessions, we read from books that can be found in the "12:15 Reading Room" and which have been selected by our readers to be read aloud together.

and "12:15" is also a publishing platform

"12:15" is not about checking the time constantly or counting the pages of the books. It is an artists' books publishing platform for the artists like watchmakers who believe that time doesn't exist - but clocks do.

Aiming to create a space for artists to experiment with their ideas while creating unique art books, share their works with others, respond to the time we are in, initiate a dialogue and cultural input within a society.

Founded in 2022 by the Lithuanian artist Marija Repšytė.
