A research into the Museum for the History of Photography’s archive in Saint Petersburg. We were particularly captivated by a donation that the museum received from a 85 years old Russian woman. In an interview produced by the museum, the lady draws attention to a group of photographs that men and soldiers gave her as mementos. According to her words, these presents made her realize what kind of woman she is, but when asked, she did not answer. with the soviet iconic Book of Tasty and Healthy Food, the mnemonic connection falls on us and all the possible pasts that we can secretly desire.

TEXST was an art collective and publishing press based between Bergen, Norway and Helsinki, Finland, running from 2016-2025. TEXST explored the presence of text in visual art in all of its manifestations. Our title, TEXST, embodied our approach – testing text-based work in any and all forms. This consisted of workshops, residencies, and a series of collective and individual publications.
