The End Of The World. In Chronological Order by Anders Granberg
Predictions of the end of the world have been numerous
throughout history. Their origins have ranged from superstition and mathematical reasoning to interpretations of sacred
texts. In many cases, however, the underlying driving force
behind such predictions has been the pursuit of power.
The primary aim of this work is to bring this latter aspect into
focus. The desire to exert control over others has long been
present in human societies, and in these instances such
control has been exercised through the invocation of the
most extreme imaginable scenario — the end of the world.
The book The End of the World: In Chronological Order
presents 129 failed predictions spanning from the year 172
to 2021, together with the individuals or groups responsible
for them.
